Job search tips for students.

Job search tips for students.

Looking for some help finding a job on top of the help the career at the American College of Healthcare and Technology will provide you with? Here are some extra things you can do to find the job of your dreams.

Online resources: Looking for a job online is a great way to find a job. With useful sites like craigslist, snagajob and indeed finding job listings has never been easier. The great part about job listing websites is that you can list jobs based on your locations so instead of working out in Orange County or Los Angeles you can find job listings that are available in the Inland Empire, or if you would like to work in another state or county you can look for opportunities other places as well.

Check out facilities near you: Going to a hospital, office or pharmacy while in school and building relationships can not only help get a job, but it can help land an externship as well. While the American College of Healthcare and Technology will help with job assistance and finding an extern location, going in and building relationships can get you a job in the future.

Extern Site: Students who excel at their extern site often are kept on to work there full time after graduation. Often extern sites will be full and can’t take that extern, but if the student can impress their bosses, they can get recommended to get a job at other sites with a good word from their extern site. Working hard at your extern can get you a job at that extern site as many ACHT students will get a job from their extern site or through recommendations from that site.

Create a Linkedin account: A Linkedin in the account is one of the most important tools a job seeker can have.  According to Linkedin employers can expand their talent pool 10x the amount by simply looking for candidates in their current employee’s networks. Having a strong Linkedin resume acts as a searchable resume for employers and many employers will offer jobs based on your Linkedin account. If you need help with your resume or Linkedin accounts, talk to Raniel at career services. Mock interviews are also available.
